Story telling

Children love to talk, and talk, and talk. Sometimes it’s really hard for them to stop talking for a while, so, I took advantage of it. We know that children also love books and stories so I did assigned each child to choose a book that they like to share with the class.

When I told them about it they were so excited though some are quite nervous (some of them are really not used to talk in front a big crowd. Though it’s really not that big, it’s only a group of 15-20 kids), but I assured them that everything will be alright and I’m always by their side to help them.

First Week in School

Our first week for this school year had just ended and it is so great.

New kids who will brighten up my classroom's atmosphere. I had used monster theme for this week. A monster coloring activity & a monster name tag.

I am looking forward for next week, :) We will be learning about similarities and differences for my Junior Kinders (ages 4-5), and animals & objects that makes sounds for Nursery kids (ages 3).

Here in the Philippines, our classes starts on June and ends in March.

Happy weekend everyone!

Star Students

Giving rewards or a simple praise for a job well done at the end of the day is must-to-do for teachers before every day/session ends. It may be simple or costs us money but it’s worth the effort. When my kids are behaving so well during the day, I give them a star on their fist.

And it surely would want my kids to look forward for the next day to behave. One of my kid’s  mom shared to me that her son brag his star to all the members of the family, and when he takes a bath he really didn’t want his hand with a star on it to be wet with water. What a joy in my heart to hear this and it really makes me happy to see the smile on my students face. Every day I always challenge my kids to do their best in everything they do (not only academically but in actions and in words, too) – it will not only make their teachers smile but it would also make their parents & Jesus happy.

Fun with Tweezers

I found this blog from Deborah of Teach Preschool  -- oh, well she’s an inspiration to me and I love her blog. Anyway, I found about HomeMade Tweezers and I tried it with my kids. Yey, I get so excited every time I make something for them to play with.

When I’m done making enough tweezers for my kids, we were so thrilled to try it out. At first they find it hard to use to get the flowers (made of straw)...

They tried so many possibilities of  how to use it properly.

But after a few more tries they were finally able to transfer the straw flowers from one container to another.

Then we timed how fast they could transfer all the flowers and tallied it to be able to know who’s the fastest.

It was fun to learn new things.
